The case serial number shown in the image indicates circa 1943, according to the serial number/date tables I referenced. The movement is the caliber 59 which is a Font movement. The case is a Swiss Oyster case. The Rolex bracelet is off a 1950s vintage Tudor, lug ends modified to fit the Explorer. Edited: May 7, 2015.

I bumped into this watch this morning, I think it is a redial but the seller tried to convince me that it was all original (not a redial) Can I have you guys opinion on this, because 1/ the dial look so clean and new 2/ the printing on the dial seem a little to bold. I was making a point on the lineage of the Rolex Explorer and these dials were part of the progenesis of the Explorer line. Rolex was experimenting with many dial types at this stage in both references.. The 6098 was the prototype and the 6298 was the update to that prototype in the development of a more robust cased watch, both references are .

It's the mid level brands like Omega, Breitling, Rolex, and the like that boast about their calibers passing the test by displaying it on the dial. I’d also be wary of Rolex buckles as the vast majority are fake. The case also looks very polished. Is the 2400 is £, $, € and how much tax is added. It sounds fairly reasonable but based on the quality of the pictures, lack of bracelet and soft case, there’s a reason it’s cheap. I agree 100%, this should just say unicorn on the dial and have a rolex movement. Not worth anything above 0. It is most likely a redial as well. I don't like the painted sub seconds hand like that and sub seconds ring.
