I recently acquired an Omega Seamaster 2531.80. 49XXXXXX serial number puts it at around 1986. I got it for a good price, and other than the bezel insert being pretty scuffed up and the hands/dial lume being faded, the watch looks great. This week, we are pitting two neo-vintage Seamaster Professional 300M references against each other. In the black corner, we have the sword-handed 2254.50. Out of the blue corner fights the 2531.80 as worn by Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day. Our very own Nacho owns the former, while Morgan proudly rocks the latter. The caliber 8806 movement for the Seamaster 300M Bond watch is a giant leap from the first (automatic) reference 2531.80 Bond watch, of course that used the ETA based Omega caliber 1120. It has been certified ‘Master Chronometer’ by METAS, of which all details can be found here .
I wouldn't consider the 2531 to be vintage, but it is a very well recognized, reliable, and much loved watch. It's the model that launched Omega into the Bond franchise. It's become more of a modern classic than vintage IMHO.
